However, ongoing disaster of much greater proportions takes place every day in remote corners of the world in simple rustic homes - escaping largely unnoticed by the media. Water transmitted disease causes 6.3% of all deaths worldwide, according to the Center for Disease Control. This staggering mortality statistic exceeds the number of lives lost by earthquakes and tidal waves by almost 100 times. Each year millions of people perish. Young children in developing countries, with limited access to clean water, are the most vulnerable.
Almost 663 million people draw water from unpro-tected water holes, streams and ponds hauling water long distances to their homes. Only slightly more than one half of the world’s population receives water piped to their home and many of them only receive water intermittently.
Oh that all disaster could be prevented! That simply is not possible. Most disasters are unpredictable; however, the science of providing clean water is well un-derstood! Over the past 30 years, Bruce and water projects teams have helped hundreds of communities improve their water supply - providing millions of cups of clean water every day; keeping children well; and blessing all involved- the recipients, as well as us.
Jesus tells us that every cup of water given in His Name blesses the heart of God and expresses His deep com-passion. Jesus sends us to respond to thirsty people needing clean water. The overwhelming challenge of preventing millions of deaths annually and providing water to half the world’s homes staggers us. But Jesus simply sends us, through Life Giving Water Int’l to do our part and assures us that every cup of water counts!
Life Giving Water International continues to address this vital need.
