Throughout his time here on earth, Jesus Christ modeled for us the way we are to approach those who are in need within our sphere of influence. Time and time again, Jesus stepped into the lives of the vulnerable and the marginalized - whether spiritually, physically, or socially - to restore and to heal (Matthew 14:14; Mark 2:10-12; Luke 19:5-10). While we do not have the ability to fully heal those around us as Jesus did, we know it is through seeking reconciliation and living in right relationships with God, others, and creation – following Jesus - that we can experience abundant life (John 10:9-10). As an engineering-focused ministry, we use our gifts to walk alongside communities to work toward access to clean, potable water while we share the life-giving water (John 7:37-38). While the world promises “good” things that will only leave us thirsty again, it is through a life of following Christ that we will never again be thirsty, and that will lead to abundant life for all of eternity (John 4:13-14).
o Matthew 14:14 - When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
o Mark 2:10-12 - But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
o Luke 19:5-10 - When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly. All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.” But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.” Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
o John 10:9-10 (ESV) – I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
o John 7:37-38 – On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
o John 4:13-14 – Jesus answer, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
