CODEINSE - Project Kawsaypak YakuThe indigenous group with whom we partner in Ecuador, CODEINSE, chose the name, Kawsaypak Yaku (pronounced: cow-sigh-pock yah coo) which means “Life-Giving Water” in Kichwa. This reflects their goal of assisting rural communities with clean water supply as well as preparing leaders for Christ-centered children’s programs, educational tutoring, and youth ministry. Many members are from the Community of Miraflores Cochapamba which built a clean water system in 1998. The providential hand of God enabled them to conquer difficult technical, legal, and social issues. They are inspired to help other communities in the same way.
Since 2015, we have assist them in building a follow-up program for rural water systems which fortifies churches and communities. The membership includes a broad spectrum of Kichwa professionals. Efrain Morocho, a water technician who has participated in water-related ministry since 2001, is the director of the ministry. |
